A sound that is programmed to be activated at a specific time, either pre-programmed or by stimulus. “Go off” also means to explode. The preposition “off” seems to be a contradiction, since the opposite, “on”, seems more logical.

i hate when people set up the alarm clock one hour earlier than they really need to get up, and it starts going off every 5 minutes, like 12 times before getting up,and u can sleep for that hour, waking out with that disturbing noise
ReplyDeleteI love do that, because when you have to get up too early you start to enjoy like never in your life those last 30 mins..the trouble is when is someone close that can´t sleep for the noise.
