Hook up

If you are hooked up, you are connected to a machine, an electronic device or the internet.

1. I think the reason why you can’t hear anything is because your speakers are not hooked up.

2. You need to hook your antennae up for a better TV reception.

3. I thought the toaster was taking a long time to toast my bread, and then I discovered that it wasn’t hooked up.

4. If you’re not sure how to hook up your printer, wireless router or anything else to your computer, you can find some tutorials on Youtube… or call a friend.

5. You need to hook your iPod up to iTunes if you want to put some songs on it.

  1. The interesting thing about this comic strip is that Bill Watterson, the creator and cartoonist for Calvin and Hobbes, finished his last comic strip on December 31st 1995... just as the internet was beginning to explode around the world. It's a pity we don't have his take on social media etc. through Calvin and Hobbes.

That's another meaning not taught in this post... which means to get together with someone/ to meet them and spend time with them
